I seldom write about politics here in my blog but this one is special. Fellow blogger, Sharanya Manivannan, sent me this link to her open letter to the Prime Minsiter of India. Sharanya forcefully talks about the despicable state of minority rights in Malaysia-- a real cause for concern. Reading her account makes me shudder at the dangers of radical Islam. Only yesterday I read the news that some Muslim clerics in Malaysia wanted to impose a ban on general Muslims from attending religious festivities of other religions. Thankfully moderate Malaysians have criticised such remarks. The same spirit and more needs to be shown for minority rights as well.
Read the open letter here.
A discussion on this topic is already on at Sepia Mutiny.

Hi Zafar,
Just stopping by to wish you a very happy birthday and many happy returns for the coming year. And may your literary/writing ambitions be fulfilled if they haven't already (I'm so out of touch now) shortly.
Honestly, I don't know when I'll be back this way again but your articles sound juicy so I should be tempted to read the lot.
Once, I used to come all the time but just had no clue when your next article would be up.
Anyway, always pleased to hear from you either on the blog or on the email.
If you want me to read a post specifically, do drop me a line.
Take care and best regards to your wife and lovely little daughter. Ta.
I just remembered I used to call you, Zaf. How long ago it all seem now. Happy Writing!
Oh dear...I'm at it again.
I meant, "How long ago it all seems now", and not 'seem.'
Thanks Susan for your good wishes and for coming here to read my posts. True it has been a long time but I keep reading your blog from time to time. It is great to see that you are blogging regularly. I have more or less become sort of a weekend blogger--office work and my daughter hardly leave me any time to blog during week days. Good to hear from you again, and thanks, and do keep coming here once in a while. That would be nice):
