On Bergman

There is this saying in Hindi: Yeh moonh aur masoor ki daal!

I was reminded of it when I saw my interview on Ingmar Bergman in Sarah Buck's column in Academia. More than anything else, it was an honour to talk about Bergman who will be remembered as one of the towering figures in international cinema.

You can read the interview here.

If you have something to say about it, please drop me a line.

Hello Zaf,
I have appropriately lost the comment I just wrote you so here again...
Many congratulations. Your online interview proved to be wonderful news, notwithstanding that it boasts an attractive display. I have always loved Bergman for the power of angst so beautifully conveyed and you may be interested in John Baker's post of yesterday - November 1st, if you haven't seen it already. He reviews Persona.
By the way, it feels rather exciting that you'd have gone into film-making...I didn't know this.

Also, I had received your interview announcement in my email although it was addressed to someone called pank...@gmail Not sure if it was meant for me.
Top-class as always, Zafar. :-)

Thanks Suzan. Anything boastful was not intentional on my part. Will look at John's post soon):

Oh Zafar, you've got it wrong.
All the word boasts means here, is a manner of speech to say that the magazine has created a good display. It boasts an attractive display.

So many words used in everyday UK are not easily understandable in Asia as I realise even now, the English Language having changed so much with its intonations and dialects in the region where you are.

Over here, someone would say of a beautiful interior for eg.
"This place boasts a cool set-up."
Oh if something is very good,
the English will say, "How wicked!"
Wicked means, awesome and is now accepted in this way, officially.

English changes in Asia as it continues to manouvere on its own non-stop journey in Great Britain. A local writer may want to keep that in mind when submitting work here.

cheers

Oh, So glad that's sorted, Zaf. :-)
Yours is one of the few blogs I do enjoy reading. Have fun with the writing and here's waiting to hear how it went with Dasgupta.

The Rana Dasgupta event turned out to be quite interesting, especially the Q&A session. Will write about it soon. Caught up in other things right now

Good going Zafar.
I know this is only a start.

Thanks for all your help at Rana's reading. The video is good, I just to figure out a way of uploading it.
